It's a chemical factory belonging to Dr. Eggman, and above all, one of the fastest levels of its time: propulsion tubes, moving platforms, rotating blocks, and long slides follow one another at a frenetic pace.

The liquid that can drown Sonic

The level's most notable feature is its pink/magenta liquid, nicknamed "Mega Mack" (a name popularized by the Western manual of the time). It behaves like water... but is more treacherous: it offers no air bubbles, which makes drowning much quicker.

The most stressful moment occurs in Act 2: the Mega Mack level rises and threatens to drown Sonic, who must then quickly climb rotating blocks — with the double risk of drowning or being crushed.

A cult music signed by Masato Nakamura
