Zeena: the Icy Flirt of the Deadly Six

She does her nails in the middle of a fight. Facing Sonic, Zeena barely looks up: the only female of the Deadly Six, she embodies vanity and an icy disdain for just about everything—Sonic, her fellow Zeti, and especially her forced boss, Dr. Eggman.

Who is Zeena?

Zeena is a Zeti, the species of the Deadly Six, these six horned demons from Lost Hex who fight Sonic in Sonic Lost World (2013). She has a peculiarity that immediately distinguishes her: she is the only female in the group.

Her design fully embraces coquetry. The top of her body is lime green, the bottom is black like all Zeti, and long green hair flows down to her calves. A detail that many get wrong: she has only one curved horn, striped with black and bright pink, on the left side of her head—not the usual symmetrical pair of the Zeti.

The Clan's Coquette

If Zazz embodies madness and Zor melancholy, Zeena embodies vanity and apathy. Self-centered to the point of obsession, she cares more about her hair and nails than the battle at hand. nonchalant, jaded, contemptuous, she treats her opponents—and her own teammates—with constant condescension.

This trait provides one of the most memorable moments of the game. At the beginning of her act in Frozen Factory, she is found doing her nails; furious that Sonic has ruined her "nail art," she vows to beat him... once her nails are dry. The villain whose priority remains her manicure, even during the apocalypse.

Under Eggman's Thumb

Like the rest of the clan, Zeena did not choose to serve Eggman: the doctor enslaves the Deadly Six with the Cacophonic Conch, an evil shell whose sound neutralizes the Zeti's powers and forces them to obey. Under this influence, they help him capture animals to power his Badnik army.

Within the group, Zeena plays the role of an intendant—managing information, organizational tasks. But she is not the leader: the leader is Zavok, the strongest of the six, and the group was founded by the old Master Zik. When Sonic breaks the conch, Zeena aligns with Zavok's plan: to use Eggman's Extractor to drain the Earth's life energy. She ends up, like the others, defeated by Sonic.

Frozen Factory and Green Whips

We face Zeena in Frozen Factory, the game's icy world, in snow and ice-themed battles. On Wii U, Sonic first encounters her transformed into a giant snowball, which he must make emerge from the ground by flattening the snowmen she summons.

Beyond the magnetism common to all Zeti, her personal ability is the generation of green energy ropes and whips: she uses them to strike, hinder Sonic, and even grab objects much larger than herself to turn them into weapons. Her weakness is that of her entire species: the Cacophonic Conch, whose sound puts her in agony.

Her Reappearances

Zeena remains primarily associated with Lost World, but she does have some returns. Be careful of a common confusion: she does not appear in the Sonic Boom series or its games—however, she does appear in the Archie "Sonic Boom" comic, during the "Worlds Unite" crossover. Two very different things that bear the same name.

Regarding recent games, let's be precise: in Sonic Forces, the Deadly Six boss is a copy of Zavok, not Zeena; she is only playable in the mobile spin-off Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. And in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, she is not playable—only a profile icon. Her name, by the way, is never pronounced in the main games.
