Zavok is a Zeti, the leader of the Deadly Six. Recognizable by his red skin, horns and black legs, and massive build, he is presented as the strongest and most thoughtful of his band, the last disciple of old Master Zik. The Deadly Six and the Lost Hex

Zavok rules the Deadly Six, six Zeti originating from the Lost Hex: Zavok, Zazz, Zomom, Zeena, Zor, and Master Zik — their names all start with a Z. The Zeti share a formidable power: the manipulation of magnetic fields, which allows them to take control of anything electronic… including robots.

Sonic Lost World: The Arch-Enemy

Zavok makes his debut in Sonic Lost World (2013, on Wii U and 3DS). Initially, Dr. Eggman enslaves the Deadly Six using the Conch Cacophonique, an item that holds them at his mercy. But when Sonic destroys it — thinking he's doing good — the Zeti find themselves free… and furious: they rebel, turn Eggman's Badniks against everyone, and force the hedgehog and his worst enemy to team up. The battle against Giant Zavok, at Lava Mountain, is the final confrontation before the ultimate showdown against Eggman.

His Other Appearances

Since then, Zavok has made regular returns. In Sonic Forces (2017), however, he is just a copy of himself, created by the Phantom Ruby: he serves as the very first boss of the game. He then reappears as a playable character in Team Sonic Racing (2019), in a story appearance in Sonic Runners, and even on the sports fields of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020).

A Boss Not to Be Confused With Others

With his towering, horned physique, Zavok is sometimes compared to other great video game villains, but he is indeed a 100% Sonic creation. Another point: contrary to popular belief, he does not have a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. And as for his name, "Zavok" is not translated into English — only his group (the Deadly Six) and his world (the Lost Hex) are. A true end-game boss, in every sense of the term.
