UniverseSonic CDTime Stones
A small celestial body that shows itself only one month a year above Never Lake: Little Planet, Miracle Planet in Japan, serves as the one and only setting of Sonic CD. Robotnik chains it to a mountain to plunder the seven Time Stones, jewels capable of bending the course of time. The game's mechanics are broken down: “Past” and “Future” signposts, speed held for a few seconds, a robot generator to destroy in the past to secure a good future, from Palmtree Panic to Metallic Madness. Metal Sonic and Amy Rose make their debut here, right through to the Stardust Speedway race.
Summary
A mysterious little planet that only appears one month a year, gems capable of controlling time, and two iconic characters making their debuts: welcome to Little Planet, the unique setting of Sonic CD (1993).

What is Little Planet?
Little Planet (called Miracle Planet in Japan) is a small, mystical celestial body that only appears above Never Lake during the last month of each year. In Sonic CD, Dr. Robotnik chains it to a mountain and transforms it into a robot fortress to plunder its treasures.

The Time Stones, masters of time
What Eggman covets are the seven Time Stones hidden on the planet: mystical jewels capable of controlling the flow of time. This is the "temporal" version of the famous Chaos Emeralds, unique to this episode.

Time travel
The heart of Sonic CD is its time travel. Each act exists in four versions: past, present, good future, and bad future. By touching a "Past" or "Future" sign and maintaining high speed for a few seconds, Sonic shifts from one era to another.
To obtain a good future in an area, you must go into the past and destroy Eggman's robot generator there. (Destroying the Metal Sonic hologram is optional and has no effect on the ending.) Another method: collect the seven Time Stones, which guarantees a good future everywhere and the best ending.

The debuts of Metal Sonic and Amy
Sonic CD is a game of firsts. Metal Sonic, the robotic doppelganger created by Eggman, makes his very first appearance here. Amy Rose also makes her first appearance in a video game (the character first appeared in 1992 in the Sonic the Hedgehog manga, under the name Rosy the Rascal) — and is fittingly kidnapped by Metal Sonic.
