Who is Bunnie Rabbot?

Bunnie Rabbot is a rabbit and a member of the Knothole Freedom Fighters, born in the SatAM cartoon (1993) and developed in depth in the Archie comics. Like the whole team, she is exclusive to those continuities: she is nowhere to be found in the Sonic video games. She adds to the saga's vast gallery of animal heroes, alongside other female figures such as Sticks. The Knothole team includes other members just as absent from the games, such as the dragon Dulcy.

Her name says it all: “Rabbot” is a play on words between rabbit and robot. Because Bunnie is no ordinary rabbit: she is a cyborg.

Bunnie's founding tragedy: she was captured by Robotnik and thrown into a roboticizer, the machine that turns living beings into robots. Rescued halfway through the process, she came out partially roboticized, forever half flesh, half metal. She is not the machine's only victim in this continuity, either: Uncle Chuck, Sonic's inventor uncle, went through it as well.

Where many would have crumbled, Bunnie turned her roboticization into a strength. Her mechanical limbs give her a super strength that makes her one of the most physical fighters on the team.

As for her personality, she is the very opposite of a cold machine: warm, brave and sunny, with an American Southern accent (a “Southern belle”) that makes her instantly likeable. Proof that a half-metal body takes nothing away from the heart.

One thing worth knowing: Bunnie's powers differ from one continuity to another. In the cartoon, she mainly relies on her super strength and on telescopic limbs (arms and legs that stretch out).

The Archie comics give her a far richer arsenal: on top of her strength, she can fly thanks to retro-rockets, fire a laser cannon housed in her left arm and generate a force field. So it is best to make clear which version you are talking about before crediting her with any given power.

Her marriage to Antoine
