Who are the Babylon Rogues?

The Babylon Rogues are a trio of anthropomorphic birds nicknamed the "air pirates." Created by the Sonic Team, they made their debut in Sonic Riders (2006) as Sonic's main rivals. Their specialty: Extreme Gear, the anti-gravity flying boards on which the races take place.

Jet the Hawk, the leader

Jet the Hawk is a hawk, the group's leader and Sonic's direct rival in racing. Nicknamed the "Legendary Wind Master" due to his unparalleled mastery of Extreme Gear, he is as proud as he is talented.

Wave the Swallow, the mechanic

Wave the Swallow is a swallow, the team's technical mastermind. A mechanic, engineer, and strategist, she designs and maintains the trio's Extreme Gear. Without her, there would be no high-performance boards!

Storm the Albatross, the brawn

Storm the Albatross is a massive albatross: he is the group's brute force and Jet's loyal right-hand man. Less of a subtle strategist than his companions, he compensates with his power and unwavering devotion to his leader.

The Babylonians and Extreme Gear

The trio isn't there by chance: the Babylon Rogues are the descendants of the Babylonians, an ancient alien civilization stranded on Earth in the distant past, who became a legend of thieves. Their quest revolves around the Babylon Garden, an ancient garden-ship buried underground, whose legendary "treasure" turns out to be a primitive form of Extreme Gear.

In racing, each character belongs to one of three in-game classes: Speed, Flight, or Power, each with its advantages on the tracks.

Their games

The Babylon Rogues are the stars of the Riders trilogy:

  • Sonic Riders (2006) — their first appearance, where they team up with Eggman to find the treasure of Babylon Garden
  • Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity (2008) — which introduces the Arks of the Cosmos
  • Sonic Free Riders (2010) — under the name "Team Babylon"

Since then, they have regularly reappeared in the franchise's racing games.
