What is the Egg Dragoon?

The Egg Dragoon is a large dragon-shaped combat mech designed by Dr. Eggman to defeat Sonic. The scientist pilots it himself: his Egg Mobile inserts into the mech's torso to form the cockpit.

A Boss in Sonic Unleashed

The Egg Dragoon makes its first appearance in Sonic Unleashed (2008), in Eggmanland. It is the penultimate boss of the game, faced by Sonic in his Werehog form. Beware: it is not the final boss — that remains the terrible Perfect Dark Gaia, later fought as Super Sonic.

Drill, Ice, and Cannons

The Egg Dragoon is heavily armed: a gigantic drill on its left arm, a six-barreled cannon on its right arm firing energy blasts, but also ice attacks, an electric attack, and homing missiles. Enough to give a tough fight.

Too iconic for just one game, the Egg Dragoon returns in Sonic Generations (2011), where it serves as a boss representing the "modern" era (that of Sonic Unleashed). This time, Sonic himself — and not the Werehog, absent from this game — confronts it.
