The main antagonist of Sonic and the Secret Rings (2007, Wii), Erazor Djinn packs erase and razor into his name: erasing the tales, wielding the blade. This genie from the Arabian Nights strikes Sonic with the Flame of Judgment, a deadly countdown that forces him to gather the seven World Rings — before serving as an offering for the ritual. Shahra steps in and dies, the ritual fails, three rings (Rage, Hatred, Sadness) pass to Sonic. Transformed into an incomplete Alf Layla wa-Layla, the genie falls to Darkspine Sonic, then seals himself in his lamp for eternity.
He wants to erase the tales and reign over the real world. Erazor Djinn, the evil genie of the lamp, is one of the saga's few antagonists without any redemption: the game ends with his eternal imprisonment. A portrait of the villain from Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Who is Erazor Djinn?
Erazor Djinn is the main antagonist of Sonic and the Secret Rings (2007, Wii), the first game in the Storybook series. He is a malevolent genie of the lamp, from the world of One Thousand and One Nights — the great villain to oppose Shahra, the genie of the ring and Sonic's ally.
His name is a double-edged pun: "Erazor" combines erase and razor. The character's agenda in one syllable: he wants to erase the tales from the book and wields a razor-sharp saber. He is directly inspired by the malicious genie of folklore, with a backstory that twists the tale of Aladdin: trapped in his lamp, he was condemned to grant a thousand wishes as punishment.

His plan and the Flame of Judgment
Erazor's ambition is simple and immense: to escape the book of One Thousand and One Nights to invade and dominate the real world. To do this, he plans to use Sonic as a tool.
From the opening, he targets Shahra with a flaming arrow; Sonic intervenes and inherits the curse: the Flame of Judgment. This is not an ordinary attack but a deadly countdown — the flame will consume Sonic from within if he does not bring Erazor the seven World Rings. The genie thus transforms his enemy into a forced courier, under the permanent threat of a delayed death.

The seven World Rings
The World Rings are at the heart of everything. These seven rings embody the great emotions of the story, and Erazor needs them to complete his ritual of passage into the real world. A cruel detail of the lore: the one who gathers them must be sacrificed to link the two worlds — Sonic is therefore not just the collector, he is also the intended offering.
It is this plan that will turn against its author. By trying to stab Sonic, Erazor kills Shahra, who intervenes; the ritual is deprived of its offering and fails. Three of the World Rings — Rage, Hatred, and Sadness — then desert Erazor's body to transfer to Sonic.
Alf Layla wa-Layla, the final boss
Cornered, Erazor transforms into Alf Layla wa-Layla — literally "One Thousand and One Nights" in Arabic, the original title of the collection. He is the game's final boss, a colossal and monstrous form. But with a significant nuance: this form is incomplete, because the ritual failed; it is not the full power Erazor was aiming for.
Against him, Sonic uses the three recovered World Rings to transform into Darkspine Sonic — a transformation unique to this game, born of anger, hatred, and sadness (and not the Chaos Emeralds). He expels the power of the rings from the genie. The coup de grâce is beautifully ironic: Sonic recovers Erazor's lamp and, since a genie of the lamp must grant the wishes of whoever holds it, he orders him to seal himself in his own lamp, for eternity. The power that was his strength becomes the weapon of his downfall.

His appearances
Erazor is a character from a single game: he opens and closes the entire plot of Secret Rings, but remains exclusive to this Storybook episode — no role in the main series or in Black Knight. He makes cameo appearances: a sticker in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008), which boosts fire attacks, and a cameo in Sonic Runners, where the event shows him freed and then split into a thousand mini-Erazors condemned to grant, again, a thousand wishes.
