A sun god worshipped by the principality of Soleanna, Solaris is a super-dimensional being who, once corrupted, intends to devour every timeline at once. Ten years before Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Project Solaris launched by the duke goes wrong and splits the deity into two halves: Iblis, a creature of fire and lava nicknamed the Flames of Disaster, sealed in the soul of Princess Elise, and Mephiles, the cunning spirit locked inside the Scepter of Darkness. Their reunion produces a final boss struck across three eras by Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Super Silver.

A sun god capable of devouring time itself, split into two opposing entities: this is Solaris, the ultimate threat in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), often dubbed "Sonic 06". A deep dive into one of the saga's most ambitious villains.

Who is Solaris?
Solaris is the sun god worshipped by the principality of Soleanna, a super-dimensional being intimately linked to time. Once corrupted, his goal becomes terrifying: to annihilate time by devouring all timelines simultaneously.

The Solaris Project and the schism
Ten years before the events of the game, the Duke of Soleanna launched the "Solaris Project" to harness the god's power and allow for time control. But the experiment went wrong: a rift caused Solaris to be split into two weaker halves.
Iblis and Mephiles, the two halves
This schism gave birth to two complementary entities:
- Iblis: the raw destructive power, a being of fire and lava dubbed the "Flames of Disaster".
- Mephiles: the spirit, the cunning and shadowy intelligence — Solaris's "shadow" half.
To contain the threat, Iblis was sealed within Princess Elise's soul, while Mephiles was imprisoned in the Scepter of Darkness.

The reunification plan
The entire drama of Sonic 06 stems from Mephiles's obsession: to reunite with Iblis to reform Solaris. His plan is Machiavellian: to make Elise cry (which would free Iblis) by attacking Sonic. Once reunited and amplified by the Chaos Emeralds, the two halves reform the god Solaris.

View Product →The final boss with three heroes
Solaris is an extraordinary adversary: he is one of the rare final bosses in the series who requires three transformed characters simultaneously — Super Sonic, Super Shadow, and Super Silver. Since the god exists simultaneously in the past, present, and future, he must be struck in all three eras.
The ultimate twist: in the end, Sonic and Elise travel back in time before the Solaris Project, and Elise blows out the flame that was to become the god — erasing Solaris from existence and nullifying the events of the game.
🔮 One of the three heroes came from the future: (re)discover Silver the Hedgehog.
