Appearance-wise, a common misconception circulates: Aleena is not ginger (an abandoned concept art showed her this way). Her fur is light purple, her hair dark purple, and her royal attire combines a white dress, a long golden cape, and a crown. The hooded purple cape, on the other hand, is her disguise to watch over her children without being recognized.

The Sacrifice and the Prophecy

The entire story stems from a heartbreaking decision. When Dr. Robotnik seizes power, Aleena is forced to entrust her three babies separately to safe homes to protect them. This is not abandonment out of neglect, but a sacrifice dictated by the prophecy of the Oracle of Delphius.

Aleena is neither a frontline fighter nor an antagonist: her role is to watch in secret. Throughout the series, she appears fleetingly — hologram, dream, encrypted message — to guide her children from a distance, without ever fully revealing her identity.

She is primarily the series' narrator: her voice-over opens almost every episode (with the sole exception of "Six Is a Crowd"), to the point that fans call this narration "Aleena's diary." In the French version, the character is also renamed "Queen Eléonore."

Her Powers and Attributes

Aleena possesses subtle but useful magic: she projects her image from a distance and teleports from one place to another, which explains her elusive appearances. A skilled strategist, she excels at stealth and can pilot various vehicles.

Not to be confused with her children: Aleena does not possess any instrument-medallion. The guitar, keyboard, and drums belong solely to the triplets. Her attributes are her crown, whose jewel serves as a signal beacon, and a royal scepter that she rarely uses. Her true "weapon" remains the prophecy that forces her into the shadows.

An Unfinished Story

This is the great frustration of Sonic Underground: the series was canceled after a single season of 40 episodes. As a result, the prophecy is never fulfilled on screen: the Council of Four is not formed, the mother-children reunion does not take place, and Aleena's final fate remains unknown.
