Gemerl's story begins with the tragic end of Emerl in Sonic Battle (2003). After Emerl's destruction, Eggman recovered his data (and perhaps some parts) to build an "improved" version: Gemerl.

In Sonic Advance 3, as Eggman has broken the Earth into seven pieces, Gemerl acts as his enforcer: he relentlessly intercepts Sonic and his friends to prevent them from repairing the planet, serving as a secondary antagonist throughout the adventure.

Betrayal, Defeat, and Redemption

The true final boss is Ultimate Gemerl: the robot steals the seven Chaos Emeralds, transforms, and in a turn of events, betrays Eggman before fleeing into space. It will take an unlikely alliance between Super Sonic and Eggman to stop him.

Defeated, Gemerl crashes on a beach where Cream, Cheese, and Vanilla find him deactivated. Tails repairs and reprograms him: Gemerl then becomes a kind-hearted robot who lives peacefully with Cream and her mother.
