Decoe is a supporting character exclusive to the Sonic X animated series. Created specifically for the series, he and Bocoe play one of Dr. Eggman 's two robotic assistants . Tall, slender, and always calm, Decoe brings a touch of cold, offbeat humor to the Sonic animated universe. Although he doesn't appear in any video games, he has become a memorable figure for fans of the series.
Origin and first appearance
Decoe is introduced in the first episode of Sonic X , which aired in Japan in 2003 and internationally until 2006. Created by TMS Entertainment in collaboration with Sega , he serves as a comedic support for Dr. Eggman. Unlike Orbot and Cubot, Decoe has never been included in the video games of the franchise.
Appearance and characteristics
- Species: humanoid robot
- Height: tall and slender
- Appearance: Metallic yellow body, thin arms, red eyes, large flat forehead
- Function: technical assistant, messenger, performer of various tasks
- Voice: deep, calm, slightly robotic
His upright demeanor and expressionless face contrast with Bocoe's more nervous temperament, reinforcing the comic aspect of the duo.
Personality
Decoe is distinguished by his constant composure . Emotionless, he comments on absurd situations seriously, accentuating their burlesque side. He is:
- Loyal and obedient to Eggman, although he sometimes expresses doubts.
- Calm and methodical, even in the worst scenarios
- Less agitated than Bocoe, but just as ineffective
- Sarcastic through clumsiness, with unintentionally funny lines
Role in Sonic X
Decoe appears in most of the series' 78 episodes . He helps Eggman:
- Design and activate combat robots
- Analyze the activities of Sonic and his allies
- Carry out often bizarre plans of conquest
- Ensure database maintenance and serve as a spokesperson
Relationship with Bocoe
The Decoe & Bocoe duo follows a classic comic pattern: one ( Decoe ) is calm , the other ( Bocoe ) is nervous . Their absurd arguments, poor coordination, and subservient attitude toward Eggman reinforce their image as "minions" in the Sonic X universe.
Why does Decoe remain a cult figure?
- An unintentional humor that contrasts with the action
- A unique voice and deadpan diction
- Unwavering loyalty despite failures and humiliations
- A real comic presence that structures the series
Apparitions
- Sonic X (2003 – 2006) – featured in almost every episode
- Merchandise: Rare figurines, trading cards, Sonic X artbooks
- Video games: absent , unlike Orbot and Cubot
Conclusion
Decoe perfectly embodies the humorous side of Sonic X . His stoic posture, clumsy loyalty, and legendary duo with Bocoe have left a lasting impression on fans. Even though he's not in the games, he remains a cult figure for anyone nostalgic for the Sonic anime.
